The monolith that has captured a small segment of the world’s curiosity has been removed in the early morning of November 28th by four unknown workers.

Ross Bernards, an outdoor-guide, and outdoor lifestyle photographer was the last person to see the monolith standing and took photos of the persons that removed the mysterious object.

Bernards went to find the monolith with three other friends. The four friends were taking pictures of the monolith in the moonlight when four others walked up.

“Two of them stand back, two of them walk forward and walk up to the monolith and start pushing on it a little bit,” Bernards told reporters.

"And then one of them turns to my friends who are little bit further up the canyon next to it-- where I was a little further back-- and said, 'Hope you got your photos.'"

The two unknown workers at the monolith got the object to lean over, "That's when the rest of them came up, and all four of them pushed it over to the one side, and then pushed it back to other side," he remembered.

"And it just fell straight onto the ground."

"Right after it had fallen over and made a loud 'thud,' one of them said, 'This is why you don't leave trash in the desert,'" Bernards said.

The unknown workers broke the monolith into parts and loaded it into a wheelbarrow.

"As they were loading it up and walking away, they just said, 'Leave no trace,' and left," Bernards said.

The identity of the workers is not yet known; as is the identity of the maker of the monolith. It is theorized that it could be an art piece by the Late John McCraken; an artist known for his similar monolith installations. However, McCraken’s estate and dealer do not know of this piece of why the artist would not have told them about the project.
