Karimnagar, India —

An Indian woman, Rajitha, has succumbed to injuries sustained during an exorcism performed by self-proclaimed Tantrik, Duggala Shyam.

The “occultist” was reported to have thrashed the young woman attempting to get information from the demon possessing the victim. Rajitha became unconscious after Shyam threw her unto a bed, allegedly giving her the fatal head injury.

“The accused Duggala Shyam as part of his treatment, held the victim by her neck, slapped and kicked her and then lifted her only to throw her on the bed, saying this is how he gets the spirit out from the woman's body. Unfortunately, his act cost her, her life,” writes Asianetnews.com.

It is being reported by sources that Rajitha fell unconscious after receiving the blow and was taking to a Prathima private hospital in Karimnagar. She remained comatose for several hours until finally succumbing to her injuries while undergoing treatment.

The Tantrik, Shyam, and the victim’s uncle, Ravinder, have been taken into custody in relation to the murder.

The death follows the birth of Rajitha’s child four months ago. Rajitha was not feel well for a few days and her family took her to Shyam, who told them the young victim was possessed. Believing the “holy man” the family allowed him to perform the exorcism which lead to Rajitha’s death.

Both men have plead not guilty.
