Haunted Building For Sale!

A commercial building in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada is being sold for the low price of $700,000. The building has a commercial store front and six residential units. The property, however, made headlines across North America in 1970 when a poltergeist terrorized several members of the community.

In 1970, the building was just like it is today housing both commerce and residents. In apartment #1, something mysterious was happening, A small family living in the apartment began to experience items moving on their own ten days prior to calling the police.

Then police arrived they saw things which none were ready: large pieces of furniture were moving on their own; pictures flew off the wall; and strange sounds throughout the apartment. The activity seemed to be centered around a young boy, 11. When the boy would walk past pictures on the wall, the pictures would sway back and forth. The boy was seen to be pushed against the wall by an unseen being. One time, while sitting in a heavy chair, the chair and boy where flipped over. One of the most terrifying events was when a chesterfield was lift more than a foot off the ground with four people sitting on it.

Tenets may include more than human residents but plenty of room for living, as well…

“He [the police officer] said there was a photographer there, he went in to take pictures and … the door closed behind him and he couldn’t get out. He was freaked out about it and kind of just left his equipment in there,” said Rino Mancini, friend of one of the investigating officers.

Throughout the activity only two items remained untouched; a crucifix, and a picture of the Virgin Mary with a palm leaf.

The haunting seemed to stop in the building when the family moved, supposedly being the haunting to the grandmother of the family. The current owners of the Church Street property have not experienced any paranormal activity.
